\u00a0<\/em><\/span>\u300017th of May is the day to celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This day marks the anniversary of the founding of the ITU and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865. In commemoration of this, ITU-AJ is holding a celebration every year on 17 May. This celebration draws attention to the ITU related activities in Japan and to the Declaration of Principles\/Plan of Action of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). During the celebration ITU-AJ will be presenting the “Accomplishment Awards” and the “Encouragement Awards” to those who have made significant contributions in the international standardization and cooperation activities. However, due to the global spread of new coronavirus this year, we decided to postpone the ceremony initially scheduled for 17 May to 6 October. In addition, in order to minimize the possibility of infection as much as possible, participation to the award ceremony will be limited to the awardees and the representatives of the relevant companies and institutions, and the reception for award winners will be cancelled.
