57th Celebration of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

記念式典と記念講演会のご案内

5月17日は国際電気通信連合（ITU）の誕生を祝う記念日です。日本ITU協会は、「世界情報社会・電気通信日のつどい」式典を開催し、国際的な標準化や協力分野で功績を遂げられた方々に「功績賞」「奨励賞」を贈呈します。

是非受賞者の皆さまに下記「受賞者へのお祝いメッセージ」にて、お祝いの気持ちをお寄せ下さい。　

17th of May is the day to celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This celebration draws attention to the ITU related activities in Japan and to the Declaration of Principles/Plan of Action of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). During the celebration ITU-AJ will be presenting the “Accomplishment Awards” and the “Encouragement Awards” to those who have made significant contributions in the international standardization and cooperation activities.

1973年から贈呈している「日本ＩＴＵ協会賞」の歴代受賞者とその功績概要を発表しています。

「世界情報社会・電気通信日」とは

1968年のCCITT総会で、1865年（慶応元年）ITUの基礎となった最初の万国電信条約が20か国の全権委員によって署名された5月17日を「世界電気通信日」と定めました。2005年世界情報社会サミットでこの日を「世界情報社会の日」とすることが宣言され、その後国連総会で採択されました。従来の「世界電気通信日」よりもいっそう幅広い趣旨を盛り込んで祝賀することが決議されたことを受け、日本ITU協会では、この日を記念してITU等における国際標準化活動の貢献した方々を「日本ITU協会賞」として顕彰するとともに、講演会等の記念行事を開催しています。

「日本ITU協会賞」とは

ITUの目的達成および我が国のITU関係諸活動の発展向上、ならびに全世界的な情報社会の発展とデジタル・ディバイドの解消を中心としたICT後発国の底上げに寄与するため、1973年から日本ITU協会賞を授与しています。
