President of ITUAJ received a letter from Secretary-General of ITU regarding the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake
Kiyoshi Mori, President of ITU Association of Japan received a letter from Dr. Hamadoun I. Toure, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) regarding the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake. A summary of the letter is presented below.

I wish to express my solidarity and profound sorrow for the earthquake and devastating tsunami that struck Japan recently.
The ITU immediately notified the Japanese Government of its readiness to provide assistance with emergency telecommunications for victims of the disaster and delivery of logistics. The ITU also donated about 160 satellite mobile phones.
The importance of ICTs in the domain of emergency telecommunications will be a key theme at ITU Telecom World 2011, to be held in Geneva in October 2011. In light of the recent disaster, this will be further highlighted at the Event. I have just sent an invitation to the Prime Minister of Japan to attend the Event, and I would also like to invite you to attend the Event to share your news with us. Please be assured, once again, of ITU’s solidarity in the coming weeks and months.
